It's a wonderful thing, DST. First proposed by B. Franklin way back when. And it is gone for another year. Anything that messes with our perception of time is a good thing.
I wonder why my garage door misbehaves when the temperature drops below 70. I may hit the wheels with some carb cleaner and regrease them to see if'n that heps any. Maybe WD40 would help. Hmmm. Guess it will take some experimenting. At least I have time to do it. This being unemployed stuff is taking its toll. Mostly boring with stretches of tedium. I keep applying for jobs but nothing appears to be happening. I'm lookin' for a job, here and there, searchin' everywhere, looking for a job I can call my own...

Where the hell have I been?
Lots has happened in the ensuing weeks which shall be referred to as "the Lost Weeks". We had 10/10/10, I attended e-Slate training yet again, and washed the doggies. I also filled out a plethora of job applications. As I sit here, none of that work has borne fruit. Not so much as an interview. I finally got my first disbursement of unemployment money. Not much there. I'd rather have a job. I'm getting too good at knowing when game shows are on GSN. Tonight is the big Election Law class. I hope we are allowed to "fast track" it. Otherwise it will be a looooong 3 hours. The pay is the same.

Fall and Job Interviews
"Meh!" This sound means "I really don't care." or "It doesn't affect my life." Today was a day for Meh. Got another AGP card from Greg. Didn't work. Still no video signal from my big PC. This probably means I got a bad motherboard. SUCK!! On the "not-Suck" side, I had a job interview. Good practice. Did not get the job, but how weird would that have been. I am not a SQL DBA and that is what they wanted. Meh. It is such a nice day. I got some more grout de-groutificated from Lane's tub. That much closer to re-grouting day. Huzzah!

Summer goes away...
Since its raining because of Hurricane Karl(?), it seems suitable to say, "Goodbye" to Summer and "Hello" to Autumn. (An interesting word as it ends with mn. Kind of like damn.) By the time the rain stops, it will officially be Fall and another year will be on it's downward death spiral. There is an election Tuesday in November and the crazies are coming out of the woodwork. I find that amusing and entertaining. Bread and Circuses! What more could one ask? Halloween will be kind of a drag this year with the little one all growed up and living at A&M. I will probably drag some of the decorations down and put them up but it hardly seems worth the effort. Job hunt now in full gear. And that is all I will say about that. Need to locate an AGP graphics card to see if the one I have is toast or if my mobo has gone poof. HDD is good and bootable. Monitors are both good. Just got me a bad video card??????? Found one at Microcenter for a penny but it was a ghost. Shame on Microcenter for not updating their database and getting my hopes up.
More dust bunnies later.

I'm Back!!!
Been getting an Error 503 message for the last few days. Lots of things going on. Went to the Blood Center and donated a pint and 250 gms of platelets. Got my humors balanced good!!
Did a bunch of laundry today and I feel like I got something accomplished. I've been anticipating no longer being "disabled" and have been looking for jobs. I bet I'm too old to hire.
Got the spa all ready for the wif. 95 degrees and all balanced. There are enormous black beetles flying all about the back yard. I wonder what they are, other than black beetles?
Got to grill some brats, so it's time to go...

Labor Day 2010
I washed and dried all three pup dogs today. It went well. Wanted to trim the bushes but it rained all day on and off. Something about a TS in the Gulf. Meh. Skyped my daughter today. She is learning things I don't know! Skype is cool. Finally, a videophone that works and doesn't cost anything! Woot!! Most of you are way to young to remember Dick Tracy. He had a wrist radio then a wrist TV. Now we have them for real. What's next? Flying cars? I want one.
The whole day went by and I didn't fly my flag because of the rain. Now the sun is down and the day pretty much shot. Deb made a fine lemon pound cake. It's good. Very lemony.

Sunday
A good day for Sun worshippers. Rait nice outside today. Missed posting yesterday. Went to celebrate Jackie's Birthday at Lamonte's last night. It was quite pleasant. Forgot to do my meds yesterday until after I had Scallops Diavolo. This is a mistake. One I should remember not to make. However, the memory is a funny thing. I doubt anyone really knows exactly how it works on an atomic level. No doubt there are theories with a lot of background info that points to "proof", but until we can get memory in a pill, its all conjecture.
It is time to watch the episode of Family Feud that I dvr'd yesterday. Aughhhh!! Erased the wrong one! I need a do-over button.

September Begins!
Friday. Named for Frigga, Norse goddess of Happy Hour. Packed up a Care Package for the Dotter today. Skyped Bro and Sisters. Drove the moped of Doom to the store and back to get stuff for the Care Package. The rain fell but not on my freshly cleaned gutters.
Has anyone noticed how talented Pauly Shore is?

Goop in the Rain Gutters
Went up on the roof with my leaf blower and blew out the rain gutters. Too bad it rained yesterday and all the gutter goop was sodden. Might be getting on to time for a new roof. I wonder what they cost these days.
I got gutter goop on me and was a sweatball by the time I finished. I sometimes wonder as to the chemical makeup of gutter goop. I know it has little crumbs from roofing shingles and algae. But who knows what else is in there. Sticks and leaves and whatnot. All decaying and entrophying. (I know that isn't a word, but what is a language for if not to warp to one's will?)
Outside news: Yet another oil rig in the Gulf has gone kaboom. Seems odd to have no explosions for such a long time then have two in the same year. More paranoid people would be looking for a plot. Not me. Just goes to show what complacency will do to you.
More tomorrow...

JUUUUUUUURY DUTY
Not quite a Paulie Shore movie, but I had 45 minutes of Jury Duty today. I was #1 but we were dismissed before we got to jury anything. :( Came home and made cookies. I was forced to eat the defective ones. Darn!
Other things under my couch: CO2 cartridges for one of my pellet guns, C-Ration canned cakes, and a tiny dog turd left over from when we fostered two puppies a couple of weeks ago. I recommend everyone with the room should foster a puppy or two for a few weeks. It is a learning experience for all parties, including the doggies.
I was going to go up on the roof and clean out the rain gutters, but it has been raining all afternoon. Not a good time to be on the roof.
Thought for the day: Time to get things done.

End of August Review
Dust Bunny of the day: Sent the daughter off to TAMU. She are a Aggie now. I hope she is doing well but she isn't saying. Probably too early to be asking.
Skyped both sisters, regular and in-law. Both appear to be doing well.
Other things under my couch: Jewelery anvil, empty cookie tin, spare light bulbs for my moped. (More on the saga of the moped later.)
Listened to radio this morning while taking Katie to the Taub for a new Gold Card. Lots of bashing as I listen to AM talk radio. Thus far, it beats listening to the same 10 songs repeat on FM radio. The AM people seem to also sing the same song over and over. This may become boring too. I feel that life is a constant struggle to avoid boredom. Being dead is probably the ultimate in boredom. I reckon boredom eventually wins.

Dust under the Couch
Hi and welcome to the Dusty Rabbit. Things that live under my couch: Shady (7 year old Bichon Frise), weights, election paperwork, civic club paperwork, air pistols with boxes, bits and pieces of computers, one old beater laptop, dust, dust bunnies, and other stuff to be named later. I should get under there and clean but then all that stuff wouldn't have a home. Besides, procrastination is an art form. Too much is not art, not enough is the sign of a sick mind.
